The core rules that govern how water requests are assessed and delivered.

Eligibility Criteria

Domestic water deliveries are available to households, schools, churches, and community groups within the service radius of a KenGen power station. Commercial or large-scale bulk requests are reviewed separately and may be subject to a cost assessment.

Truck Delivery & Scheduling

Requests are submitted via the "Water (Maji) Supply" option on the Submit Request form, specifying quantity, frequency, and purpose. Recurring domestic needs (e.g. weekly delivery) can be flagged so the Liaison team can plan a standing schedule where truck capacity allows.

Borehole & Infrastructure Maintenance

Boreholes and water points installed under community projects are inspected on a rolling schedule. Faults should be reported through Submit Request (Complaints & Feedback) with the location and a description of the issue for fastest dispatch of a maintenance team.

Filing a Water Complaint

Concerns about water quality, missed deliveries, or unequal distribution can be lodged through the Complaints & Feedback channel. Complaints tied to an existing water request should reference the original Request ID for faster resolution.

Cost & Assistance

Domestic water trucking is provided as part of KenGen's community liaison program at no direct cost to the requesting household or institution. Large-scale or commercial water requests, and any request outside the immediate power station service radius, are assessed on a case-by-case basis and may involve a cost-sharing arrangement.

Borehole & Project Infrastructure

Borehole sinking and related infrastructure projects (see Community Projects) go through the standard Liaison request workflow — Log & Acknowledge, Screen & Review, Assess & Consult, Feedback & Reporting, and Execution — followed by handover and ongoing maintenance, tracked in full on the Projects Dashboard.
